We are fortunate to have 20 iTouches available to use. Currently we have one in each classroom and use them as listening centers as well as finding useful apps. Here are a few that we currently have loaded and are testing in the classrooms.
Flash Cards- A simple flash card app that allows you to change the level and number of math flash cards. Time is kept so the students can log both that and the number correct.
iRecorder- An awesome program that allows you to record yourself or your students for as long as you want. The great thing about this app is how easy it is to sync the recording with any computer.
APOD- (A picture a day)- A great app that shows an astronomy picture with relevant information.
ACE- A flashcard app that allows you to type in vocabulary words with definitions. You can use this for a variety of purposes. States and capitals are currently loaded. Really anything you might want students to memorize or become more familiar with, this program will do it.
Google Earth- Cool interface. You just tilt the iTouch to change views. You already know about this amazing program I'm sure.
Kid Klok- A simple but effective "Judy Clock". The kids manipulate the hands and the time is repeated digitally and orally. Have the students still having trouble reading analog clocks to use this app for a week. Let's see if they still have trouble telling time.
Dictionary- Although we do have these internet ready, Dictionary is a quick app for looking up word meanings and such.
HSW (How Stuff Works)- This one may become a distraction for some curious kids. We'll see how popular this one is after a few months.
Hippo Basic- My current favorite app! This one takes a bit of setting up (not much really). This app turns your iTouch into a mobile track pad. That means you can control your cursor on your computer/activeboard from anywhere in the room!
